Tau Cadre Commission Part 3 - Crisis Suits and Broadsides

Alright so here is the last part of this amazingly large project, the Crisis suits. Now none of the models have weapons because they are all magnetic and I didn't put them on when I took the photos but i will try to up load them to show you what they look like, nothing fancy, but just in case you are curious as to how they turned out. Tau Cadre Commission - Part 2 Troops

Now we are on to part 2 of 3 of this amazing Tau army I was so lucky enough to convert, build and paint. Theses are troops choices for this army, there are 24 fire warriors and 9 pathfinders, as shown in the pictures above. Now the thing was that the pathfinders were quite simple to convert, well its nothing crazy, but I had to remove to of the metal heads and replace them with actual heads without helmets. Tau Cadre Commission - Part 1 Vehicles.

Well a while back I got a commission for a large tau force with a lot of conversions. And when I say a lot, I mean A LOT! Almost every vehicle battle suit and soldier had to either have magnets added to it or needed to be reposed. Most of it was a blast to do and I learned a lot about magnets. But you don't want to hear about that you want to hear about the first part of this army, the vehicles. Well if you read this and not just look at the pictures then I will tell you that I had to paint 3 piranhas, 3 devil fish and 2 hammer heads. Most them were put together straight forward but some of them need a little more work then normal. Chaos Black Legion & Daemon Prince

So this is a small Chaos Black Legion I was working on last month. I don't get a lot of Chaos projects so when i had the opportunity to take this one on, I jumped all over it, especially since there was a Daemon prince involved. Such a beautiful plastic kit. Well the models came to me already built so all i had to do was work my magic on them. The models were to be painted up in the standard Black legion color scheme that so many 40k players are familiar with, the black and gold. The only thing that was done differently was that the hand on the Daemon prince was to be painted purple to represent the mark of slaanesh, something the customer wanted. I was also able to have my own creative input on the basing for the models and felt nothing would better then to do a lava field to add to the darkness that these models represent. But about the paint job it was pretty straight forward with nothing really special, all the traditional codex colors. As for this project both the customer and I were very happy with how they turned out and started working ona night lords project which will be showcased come the new year. Imperial Guard Cadian Commission

Black Templars Captain

Well here is another project I had been working on for some time. He is a Black Templars Sword Brethren that has been converted, well you might be thinking doesn't look like it was converted, but surely it was. I acquired him off of ebay for a few bucks and then as soon as he arrived I got to work on it. He is a 3 piece metal model and I knew right from the start that some of the conversions might be a little tricky and could end up damaging the model if I wasn't careful. The biggest issue was removing the head with a dremel which took a while. Once I got the heads removed I then fitted him with a Champion plastic helmet from the command squad box. This was simple I just had to cut the small bump under the helmet off and file it smooth. Once the head was attached I had to attach a new boltgun with strap and a power sword similar to Helbrects. Avenging Angels Captain.

The Avenging Angels is a concept Idea for an army I was planing on building in the near future and to see if I really liked the idea. I decided to build what would be the Captain. The model was built using various parts form all sorts of kits.. The torso is from the Forgeworld Korvydae model, most of the other pieces are from the Blood Angels Sanguinary Guard box with he exception of the Iron halo which I took from the Ironclad Dreadnought box. Imperial Guard Commission Part 2

So a few months ago I painted a small Imperial Guard Battle force and now it is time to show you the next addition tot he project. It isn't much, just 3 more 10 man squads and another command squad. One thing I do like about the Guard is that they have huge numbers and when they are well painted they look amazing on the battlefield. Now that the force has close to 100 troops I really think that tanks should be added and believe that will be the next addition. Maybe a Leman Russ or two.

This was a rather small commission, so it didn't take me very long to get through. They were painted in the standard Guard color setup. I start by applying a basecoat of Khemri Brown to the legs and cloth areas of the model, then a Base coat of Dark angels Green tot he armored parts, followed by a Tallarn Flesh for any of the skin areas. After that I went over the Khemri Brown areas with Kommando Khaki followed by a wash of Devlan Mud.

Tyranid Battleforce & Hive Tyrant Commission

Well I don't get to paint Tyranids very often so when I was asked to a commission for them , I jumped right on it. I had painted some Tyranids last year for the same person, those models were part of the new Space Hulk set that GW released. So he wanted them painted in the same purple that they were with the only difference being that the armor plates be painted red. With some of the inner parts painted in a glowing green.

The models were only to be painted table top quality. Other then Hive Tyrant which I went a little further on. As for the basic battleforce units there were basecoated purple then washed with leviathan purple. After that I painted all the inner parts Knarloc Green and then went back over them with Scorpion Green, followed by a Thraka Green Wash. Ultramarines 5th Company Project - Captain

So a few weeks ago I got the urge to build an Ultramarines army and figured I would start with the leader of the entire 1000 pt army i plan to build and then work from there. Even if I decided at a later time to not build the project I would still have a pretty sweet looking model for the display case. I have always love the Ultramarines and there whole story and color scheme. Now I know that the 5th company usually has green trim on there shoulder pads, but I felt it was necessary to kinda make this company my own. So I went with Gold instead. On the standard units I will be doing green trim on both pads, but he's the leader so he gets the special treatment. Now when I set out building this model I had a good idea of what I wanted him to look like, an awesome unique backpack, a cool banner, not the standard ones you usually see, and of course a sick power weapon, such as an Axe. So after I dug through my bits trays and found what i was looking for I built the model and what you see is what I cam up with. The it cam time to paint. Now I like adding gold trim to my Ultramarines, just think it looks better then the flat blue, so I will be doing this on every model.

Sisiters of Battle - Commission

Well its time for me to post another project and I thought hey why not the Sisters I finished a few weeks back. I do have a lot of projects to post. So about this project. A while back a friend of mine came to me with these gorgeous models. It had been a long time since I painted sisters so I was quite excited to hit the brush and see what happened. He requested that they be painted in the most traditional of color schemes, the black and red. Which in my opinion is the best looking one, they just awesome this way. Skaven Army - Commission

It has been a while since I painted a fantasy army, so when i heard that a client of mine wanted me to paint a Skaven army, I jumped all over it. Now I know it has been a while since I last posted on here and that is due to some personal issues, but you guys are here to hear about the army. The Skaven have always been one of my favorite fantasy armies but I was never really interested in playing them, just painting them. Time for gaming has become so rare that I would never have to time to field them. Anyways about the commission. The army consists of over 150 models I am not familiar with all the names of the units so bear with me. The army has been painted so that they are all albino rats and then any armor or clothes were painted in a nurgle style green. Which I think works really well. It was a lot of assembly line painting. The couple characters that are shown above I went a little further with and I enjoyed painting them so much that I decided to order some more for my personal collection. I do understand that the pictures are not the best but just to point some of the details that you may not be able to see. All the rats have red eyes which works really well with the color layout, also thy have grey fur instead of just white fur that you would think they would have being albino rats. The Doomwheel and Screaming Bell were both a blast to paint and really like how they turned out, especially the glowing electric feel that was added to them. The Bell also was magnetized so that both options for its setup were available to the player. Overall I am very pleased with the army and so was the client. Can't wait to hear how they do in combat action. Next up on the blog is a fewof my personal projects like a special chapter model and an ultramarine captain, Stay tuned.

Space Wolves - Commission

So I was asked by a recent contact about 2 months ago if I could take on a large space wolves project. The total count was 151 foot soldiers and 7 drop pods. But the catch was that I had only two weeks to finish it. So after receiving the models I got to work on them immediately. The models were already primed the base color. Now I know that space wolves are usually the light space wolves grey but the customer wanted them all to be this darker blue. Also all the models were all sent to me pre-assembled. I did none of the conversion on them. The color scheme was already picked out and I was given a recipe to follow which I found quite easy to achieve. So with only 2 weeks to finish this enormous project, I started into the painting. The rush was because the army is being used at an Adepticon event this April, which I believe just passed. I was able to finish the project in the alotted amount of time, but with some long nights and lack of sleep. Overall there was really nothing to special to the project just a straight forward paint job and ship. I am very happy with how they turned out and so was the gentleman who ordered them. Imperial Guard Commission Part 1

I seem to paint a lot marines and was nice to get some guard for once. I don't see them very often so it was a nice change. I was asked to paint them in the Cadian colour scheme which is pretty straight forward and probably one the nicer colour setups for guard. It was a rather smnall project only consisting of the contents of one the battleforce boxes. The only model I had to add to the battleforce was a Master of Ordnance. He was quite easy to create, Standard guard legs and some of the extra command squad bits. The 2 missiles or bombs whatever you want to call them are from some of my spare bits from the Death Korps of Krieg project I did a while back. The hands had to be modified to hold the bombs/missiles. That was probably the hardest thing to do. Other then that building the models are pretty easy the only thing i did differently was make sure the sentinel was fully armoured, just looks better in my opinion. The it was on to painting which was straight forward, nothing special. Just follow the traditional color scheme. Overall they turned out awesome and I really made me think about painting up my own guard, but then again it will be a lot of models.
Well up next I will post an Imperial Fist project and then a Space wolves project that I championed in 2 weeks, it is quite a feat.

Forgeworld Tau XV-9 Hazard Battlesuit

Last summer I attended Gamesday in Baltimore. It was a great event and will be going to the Chicago event this year. So I obviously went and lined up for the Forgeworld at the event. Now if you have ever been a Gamesday you know you have to get in line quick becuase stuff sells out fast. So as I am standing in line to get something else I was flipping through the catalogue and noticed this battlesuit, the XV-9. Now I have never been a big fan of the Tau Crisis suits, just not my cup of tea, so to speak. But this battlesuit really nailed what I felt a battlesuit should look like, great sculpt. So I picked one up. After looking at it for months, I said to myself " why u still sitting there?" and began building it.

Lugft Huron & the Astral Claws

So a while back a friend of mine came to me and told me that he was reading through Imperial Armour Badab War part 1 and that he felt it was neccessary to build one. So after asking to purchase my Huron model from me and paint he decided to get a bunch of tanks. Apparently in the book it mentions Huron's love for things that go BOOM! Quite amusing. So after getting all of these tanks he felt it was needed to give them some troops. So he added a few tactical squads and some terminator along with a dreadnought. So I went to work painting up the models for him. They were painted in the standard new astral claws colors shown in IA. I believe they were different before the book came out. They are very similar to Grey knights but not as flashy. With small amounts blue splashed in here and there. The basing was done different then most of his other armies to make it stand out a little more, variety is always good. Especially when you have too many marine armies.
Huron is a well sculpted model and full of little details. I really enjoyed painting this model and would love to get my hands on another. He would definitely make a nice conversion piece for a Dark angel Primarch or chapter master if you did a simple head and arm swp and maybe GS'd a robe on him. The other foot soldiers were pretty straight forward, nothing special bu they look good. All of the symbols on the tanks and infantry were hand painted. Overall though, the models and army turned out great, there might be more to add to it in the future. But another project finished. More projects on the way. And like I promised some of my personal work.

Black Templars Characters

These are two custom builds that I was asked to build for a Black Templar army. The top model is a chaplain and is a pretty straight forward conversion, nothing too serious. The bottom model is to be a champion. There is a little more to him then the chaplain. I gave him a gauntlet style bolter which is held under his shield arm. The symbol on the shield and banner are free hand painted.
They were painted in the standard Black Templar style with just a little more gold added to make them stand out from there other battle brothers. They are based on a roadway style shown on the GW website. I am really pleased with how they turned out and have always enjoyed painting Templars.
I always try to upload as much as possible, but life can get
so busy. I finished these 2 models a while back, sometime in December last year. I am about 6 weeks behind on posting projects and plan to do a new post every couple days till I catch up.Keep coming back for more projects. Reaver Titan

So a friend of mine says to me a few weeks ago, if i get a Reaver titan are up for the challenge of assembling and painting it. Without much of a thought to the difficulty of a putting together a model of this scale, I told him " Ya I can do it, no problem". Now I have never put anything this size together so I knew I was in for a bit of a challenge. After waiting a few weeks and themodel arrived and my friend brought it over. Well to start the box it came in was big, very big and heavy. Get the box open and there is just a mass of Forgeworld bags and more pieces then you can count. We then decide to go through all the bits and I just cant believe just how many there are. Some of the pieces are huge, like the main hull and leg pieces. Believe it or not you do get a nice set of Instructions with model but they are not what you would expect for such a high caliber model. They are vague and dont tell you as much as you need to know to put the model together. I have built hundreds upon hudrends of models so I just kinda winged it where the instructions were vague. I will be doing a stage by stage tutorial in the future but there is alot of work for it, and takes some time.
The model was also built within a small time line, about a week from start to finish. I had to prep all the pieces and remove any flash or molds spots, there are hundreds so be prepared for a few hard hours of prep. After that every piece was washed in a nice warm soapy bathe to remove any molding oils. After getting all the pieces cleaned and dried, I set them out to figure out where to start and I decided with the legs. A lot of the pieces need to be primed first. So I primed everything black except for the head plate, it was primed white. I then sprayed all the armour plates blue. I used Tamiya mica blue, it might be hard to find but its a nice deep metallic blue. The head plate was left white, to be hand painted. All the pieces that were going to be metallic were then sprayed with Testors Gun metal Grey. I will go into details with the tutorial about how everything was painted. After getting everything sprayed I then started to build the model piece by piece, there are various points where you have to stop building to paint the pieces before assembling any further. Especially on the legs alot the pieces ahd to be painted first then assembled to the main leg. After getting the legs built I then worked on the hull and getting the model balanced. Building the main hull is pretty straight forward. First before you build any of it you have to paint the interior and assembly the entire interior before fitting anything else to the model. This is mainly because once the interior is in you cant get at most of it with a brush. Once the interior is in the hull you then add the main three back pieces which make up most of the rear of the model. After that you add the shoulder joints which hold the main weapons. I do recommend pinning these pieces in various spots. Now that most of the hull is complete you then glue the main hip joint to the bottom of it. I added a magnet to the opposite side of this piece to join up ith where it mounts on the legs. With almost the whole model complete i started on the weapons. The instructions are very clear for them and I found them quite easy to assemble. Again some of the pieces need to be painted before you assemble the weapon completely. Once I had the weapons finshed I glued them into the shoulder sockets. This is a ball and socket joint so I just roughed up the gluing surfaces to allow for more adhesion. Pinning could have been done but I did not feel it was necessary. I then went onto the head and painted all the interior and crew before I put it all together. I then painted the head plate a nice bright yellow. This piece is not glued onto the model at all. I then glued in the head and the model was pretty much done. I added all the armour plates that were painted blue and then trimmed with bronze. The model took me about 7 days to complete from start to finish. I worked solely on this for more then 10 hours a day for a week. Overall I am really pleased with how the model turned out and am very lucky that i got the opportunity to build it. The number on the top of the model is the actual number it is in the production of the model. There will be a step by step tutorial coming soon, so check back and see how this beast was built.

Super Figs

Most of these models are made by fourcolorfigs.com, they are called super figs. They make a wide variety of generic super hero miniatures. They group of yellow robots are manufactured from various companies. As for painting the models, it was a pretty straight forward project. All I really had to do was mix up the colors so they did not all look the same, to give them variety. They were painted using a different style then I normally paint. This is because they are wearing skin tight suits ,so edge highlighting would not look right on them. I took ideas from various superhero universes, so you might recognize some of the paint schemes. They were all based with the same gravel earth so they can be used in an urban environment, since most heroes fight in the city or close to it. I am very happy with how they turned out and really enjoyed getting more practice using colors that I normally don't use very often. Once again another project finished and more to come. Red Scorpions Severin Loth & Honor Guard

While I was also painting the Raven Guard that I recently posted I was also working on these guys. The Red Scorpions are one my favorite chapters and I once owned a full painted army, which I parted with to a good friend of mine. Well after seeing these models, he just had to have them to add them to my former army. And I must say they will make a great addition. The pieces that you get with this set are amazing and very detailed. The four torso really help to make the unit stand out from the rest and with the shoulder pads really it gives it that look of Power and Authority. The unit can be put together in many different ways and you can easily add an apothecary to fill the unit out and use it as a Command squad. I also added in some Brass etch.
The Severin Loth model is just utterly amazing. In my opinion it is probably one of the best looking librarians ever produced for the game of Warhammer 40k. The model is torso, legs and head are all one piece and the arms and pads are separate. I imagine you could pose them in a different manner if you wanted to. Also the model could easily be converted to be used in a different army. The painting on Severin is pretty straight forward, nothing special. The only thing I really changed was the color of the knee pads to help tie in with the honor guard. But overall I feel it came out pretty good.
As for the honor guard, I did my best to match the colors used in the army they are joining. I use Charadon Granite for the base color of the models. It appears to be quite close to that shown in the IA books. I use Iyanden Dark sun for the yellow, which I find is closer to the mustard color on there armor. The whole project turned out pretty good and will fit very nicely in the army they are joining. Next up, Red Scorpions Dreadnaought. Shadow Captain Korvydae and Raven Guard Dread

This is a project that I just finished up recently. It is a Raven Guard Dreadnought and Shadow Captain Korvydae from Forgeworld. The Dreadnought was a pretty straight forward build and paint. I wanted to keep the white to a minimum and therefore didn't paint the shoulders white. I added a few hand painted Raven Guard symbols and some red onto model. There is a Red motif throughout the army.Overall it turned out pretty good.

As for the Shadow Captain, he is a very well sculpted model. The process of building him was a little tricky since the arms are separate. Also there is a couple pipes that you have to glue onto the jump pack that can be a bit of a bother. But once he was built it was time to paint. The painting was pretty straight forward. Lots of black with bits and pieces of white. I tried to stick to the look of the one painted on the forgeworld site.The base also works well with the pose of the model and the overall look. Another great looking model that was fun to paint and turned out pretty well. Up next Red scorpions Severin Loth and Honor guard from forgeworld.

Kharn the Betrayer - Custom Commission

Well another project I have been working on for a while. This time it is my version of Kharne. If your not familiar with him, he is from the Chaos Space Marine Codex. Now GW already has a old dated model of him and this was meant to be a more updated version of him. I used the basic pieces from a Khorne Beserker and only a few pieces from the original Kharne model. I felt he deserved a little more then a standard Khorne Chain Axe. So I made a larger one from 4 Chain axes and a piece of brass rod and 1 skull. Pretty easy to do. The head and back pack were just taken from the original. The plasma gun was cut from the arm and mounted how you see it. Also I know Kharne has an arm exposed but I wasn't able to find anything I liked. So he is in a full suit of armour. I also changed up some of the colors and painted lava into one of the shoulders pads. Within that, is the symbol of Khorne. Green stuff was needed to mount the arms the way I wanted them. He was then mounted on Lava base. I felt it added to the evil that the character exudes. It also ties in with his shoulder pad. The model also has a display plinth that he stands on. Once again I feel I di a great job bringing an old model to new life and I always love projects like this. Till next time.

Deathwing Dreadnought

So this is another project that finished recently, pretty straight forward, nothing special. The model is a new addition to a Deathwing army a friend of mine just recently bought from me. The army consisted of 20 terms and 2 Landraiders and a Vindicator. We both felt that a dread would be a nice addition to the army. So he commissioned me to paint one up for him. I did not build the model and it was given to me equipped how you see it. The model was a lot of fun to paint. The bleached bone takes me longer then most people. That is because I started from a black undercoat and had to work up to bone using Khemri brown. Once again another project in the portfolio. More on the way.

2010 Golden Demon Finalist - King Leonidas of the Spartan Legion

Hello again guys, it has been awhile. All is good with me. This is my Warhammer 40k Single model entry from the Gamesday 2010 event in Baltimore from last weekend. The event as a whole was great with lots of things to do, but the main reason for me to go to these events is the Golden Demon competition. About the model, he is King Leonidas of my current marine project called The Spartan Legion. He is used as my current chapter master when used in games which wont be often for him. The model is mounted on a display plinth which I drilled out to make room for the standard GW base. I wanted the base be hidden when mounted on the display plinth. I used various parts from the new Blood Angels sanguinius guard box, some marauder horseman bits, Space marine command sprue and many others, in addition to some plasticard and greenstuff. I removed all the Blood angels symbols from the bits or anything that would not appear right on the model. The sword was made from Plasticard after numerous attempts to get it right.
It took me some time to come up with the right colors I wanted the rest of the army to be painted in. For this model I went a little further with the brush. I won't be painting every model in the army to this standard. Instead of the traditional bronze and red that the Spartans wore throughout history, I decided to change it up and only make there shoulder pads red, with the rest of the armor being gray and adding in some gold to replace the bronze.
The model was painted using various techniques such as NMM and monochromatic. I painted the armor in NMM style using a wet palette and tried to apply the monochromatic technique by only using black and white as a means to shade and highlight. For the gold I painted it using the standard NMM technique with the use of Skull white, Bestial Brown, Snakebite leather, Bubonic brown and Chaos Black. Again using a wet palette. I highlighted everything that was painted on the model using the light source technique. I achieved this by painting everything on the model using layers of very thinned down paint and the wet palette. This will be the other centerpiece to the army, he will stand beside a spartan I purchased from Scibor. Overall the model did very well at the Golden Demon competition. The model placed 6th in his category. I am very pleased with how the model turned out and I believe it is some of my best work to date. Now it is time to start painting the models that follow him into battle. I have most of them built and will be posting a preview of the rest of the army before I start to paint them. Star Wars Miniatures

This project consisted of some quite old and hard to find Star Wars miniatures from when the movie was firt released way back in the 70's. The models were attacked to the old style lead base attached to the bottom of the model. I did not want to remove the piece because it would hurt the structure of the model andd make them a little more fragile the n they already are. So they were left intact and attached directly to a standard 30mm base. As for the paint job it was a pretty straight forward project and all the models were painted in the same fashion as they appear in the movies. I really enjoyed painting these models since Star Wars is something I am a big fan of. The models were all based either on Tatooine desert, Endor Moon Forest, or the deck of an Imperial Ship. There are more of these models to come in the near future. More projects to bee posted very soon.

Star Trek Miniatures

Well it has been a while since I posted on my blog and I do plan to post more often. I was swamped with many projects and most of them have now been finished. So over the next week or so there will be many posts and pictures. This was one of the many projects that I had been working on over the last few weeks. These are some older Klingon and Star trek models and they were a nice change to what I normally paint. The Star trek models were painted in the older 1960's style that was seen on the tv show. As for the klingons they were painted in the more modern style that we see on he tv show now days. Overall they turned out pretty well. More to come and there will be some 40k posts in the next week or so before I leave for Gamesday in Baltimore.

Custom Eldar Jetbike Seer Council

Once again like I mentioned before in the last post I had more jetbikes to finish up and here they are. Now theses are painted in a similar theme to that of the Ibraeysil craftworld. Mainly blue with a hints of white on the armour, such as in the face area. They are converted in the exact same way as the bikes I converted in the past. This time there was 2 units of 6, one equipped with a witchblades and the other with singing spears. The weapons were painted with a them similar to a photo I saw of an eldar warlock a while back. The weapon the eldar is holding had a glowing purple/pink electric look to it in the picture. I wanted to replicate this look on these models and overall I think they turned out pretty darn good. The overall paint job was kept pretty simple to help fit in with the army they belong to. The next project to see the blog will most likely be some wood elves I am finishing up for a friend of mine. After that I will post some of my Gamesday projects I have been working on and some really old star wars figure. Beil-Tan Eldar Jetbike Seer Council

Well It has been a while since I last posted on my blog and there are a ton of different reasons I could give you but you don't want to hear about that, tyou want to know about the models.Well here is another eldar seer council on jetbikes conversion I did. This time they were painted in the biel-ten color scheme. Since I have done this conversion before it was pretty easy to pull off and knowing where to cut and green stuff the models helped to cut down on the time it took to complete the build. The models were converted using some GS and the legs from the rider converted over with GS to look like robes. The torso's are from the seer council box. The upper torso of the models were cut off to be attached to the plastic rider's legs. Then it was time to paint, which was pretty straight forward. Overall I am really happy with how they turned out.

I have another 2 councils on jetbikes that will be completed soon so keep your eyes out for those, they are in a different color scheme, but mostly the same models. Till next time.

Man O war ships - Empire and Bretonians & FASA Star Trek ships

Hello again followers. I have just recently finished some Man-O-war ships and some Fasa Star Trek ships. The Star Trek ships are a lot of fun to paint and a nice change to all the Warhammer models I paint. They are fairly easy to build and sometimes they require almost no assembly. Overall though I very happy with how they turned out and look forward to painting more of them. They are old and quite hard to find. As for the Man o War ships, the two factions are the Empire, with skulls on the sails and the bretonians have the iron cross. All the masts were made from soldering two pieces of brass wire together to make them stronger, since the original ones were made from plastic and paper and broke quite easily during game play. The sails are made from a thin plasticard and were all hand painted. I think they turned out a lot better then the original paper. As for the completed ships they are a lot stronger then they were. Orks - Speed Freaks

Well it has been awhile since I last posted, due to some complications in my life I have been unable to find the time to keep up to date on my blog and I want to apologize to my followers. Now to business. Over the last month or so I was painting a Speed Freaks army for a friend of mine and must admit it was a nice change to the things I normally do, like Space Marines. When he approached me with the project I was excited to take it one and totally knew what look I wanted to give his speed freaks. I thought that nice dull red would look great with a mustard yellow and I wanted to see how well an army would look if the base colors were only foundation paints.Overall I think they ahve a great look and the are far more models then what is shown in the posted photos. All the models were built by my friend and I think he did a great job with the Warboss and the vehicle to give them that orky look. I especially like the belt buckle he used on the front of one of the Battlewagons. It took me about 3 weeks in all to paint these models and thought that getting it done in that amount of time was a miracle I had no idea I get that many models done in that short periond of time, almost 200 models.
Also in the meantime while I was painting those I was able to find some time to work on my own projects and get a little more done on them, still no paint on them as I want to finish building them before I start painting them. Gamesday is approaching fast and I want to have them done for my trip to Baltimore. I promise more post in the future so keep checking back and thanks for all your feedback.

Dark Angels Command Squad and Grand Master Azrael

Here is a Dark Angels Command Sqaud and Grand Master Azrael that I just recently finished. The project was pretty straight forward, with me just using a command squad sprue with the Dark Angels Veterans squad box. With all the extra bits that you get in the DA box it really helps to make your command squad all that more Dark Angels, with all the icons and shoulder pads. I enjoy painting Dark Angels and would love to paint one for myself one day. I always start with a black undercoat for painting Dark Angels. I find it helps to keep the tone of the green armor darker then if it were on white. As for the robes I always start with Khemri Brown and then work my way up bleached bone and then using a mix of skull white and Bleached bone to achieve the proper highlights. As for Azrael, I had never painted the model before and had a lot of fun doing so. The banner is very well sculpted and really made it quite easy for me to paint. I tried to stick to the same look as the GW model. The modelis kinda outdated but is still nice. Overall I am very happy with how the models turned out. Lately I have been asked to paint all sorts of different types of models that are not at all related or part of the 40k universe, but I never turn away a chance to paint something different. My friend always seems to bring models that really get me excited and I always have fun painting them. I only paint the models he does the bases. I am not familiar with all of the above the models, I do know that there is an old Games workshop Aragorn model near the top, but as for the others not to sure. They are all really nice models and most of them are hard to come by nowadays. Overall once again I am very happy with how the turned out and so was my friend. More Blood Bowl - All Star Ogres

This was a project that a friend of mine had seen and wanted something just like it. When he showed me pictures I was really excited and thought it would awesome to have one. The project was a set of ogres converted into a all-star painted blood bowl team. So I went to work modifying the orges and knoblars, removing the weapons and green stuffing some fingers and hand, which was a fair amount of work.I knew there was more work involved in the painting and wanted to make the building was done right. I was almost bang on with the same look as the original team both model and paint job. Painting the models was a little more challenging, especially since there are stars and stripes. I had never really painted stars on any of my projects but figured it would be tough and it was. I don't think any of the stars are the same size. But they look good. Then there was painting the stripes which can be a little tricky but with surface of the Orges it did not pose to much of a problem. Overall I was very pleased with the outcome of the unit overall and so was my friend. As for my own project I am almost ready to post the entire build. Well it has been a while since I last posted and have been very bust painting various projects and working on my own projects. I just finished these teams this weekend plus one more that I will be posting right after I make this post. Well here are 4 teams I have been working on for the past few weeks, we have the Dwarves, Amazon, Undead and Necromantic. Some of these teams had doubles of a few models and they are not shown in the pictures. All the colors had pre desired color schemes and I tried my best to stick to the outline I was given. This was a great project to work on because of the wide variety of models and colors. No only that but various types of skin tones as well. I really enjoyed painting the 2 dwarf wheels or whatever they are called, I am unsure to there exact name. I personally really like the flying dwarf version on the giant spiked wheel. Really Cool. Space Wolves Characters

Once again another project that I have just recently finished. Here are 3 Space Wolves models I was asked to build. There is Ragnar Blackmane at the top, then a Wolf Priest and the last of the 3 is Arjak the Anvil. I think I got his name right, but anyways. With the Ragnar model there was some cutting and greenstuff needed to get the pose right and create the weapon, most of te other pieces are from other Marine models, the Back Pack is from the Lightning Claw Space wolf that came out oh so long ago. As for painting that model I was asked to paint him in the Darker Blue/Black color that you sometimes see on other space wolves models. It is such a beautiful color. The wolf priest was pretty straight forward build but when it came time to paint I decided to add some free hand runes and a couple wolf symbols to give him that look of a wolf priest. As for Arjak he was quite the adventure and a good one. Starting with the head t is actually the space wolf head that has a huge head of spiked hair, sort of like a dwarf. I Carved all of the hair off it and then added in a couple little details, the head was carve out of another no greenstuff. The owner of the model wanted him to be a little beefier then most terms, the model was spaced at the waist to give some extra height and I added a greenstuff cape. The hammer started on a right hand and I switched it to the left. As for the sheild it is made entirely from plasticard and some bitz and the anvil was made entirely from plasticard as well. Overall I am very happy with how the models turned out both building and painting. After painting these space wolves have given me some ideas as to how I will go about painting up my personal project that I am working on. My personal army I have been working on for months is coming to a point were I need to many hard pieces to make it work so I scaled it back a bit but all that means is that my tactical squads don't get all the upgrades just some. Anyways keep your eyes out for it. I might even post what is I have been orking on for myself for months.

Death Korps Of Krieg - Part 2

These are the second part of a commission I was working on for a friend of mine. He wanted them painted up in a dark color scheme to help to add to the more sinister look that the Death Korps have. I kept the paint job very simple on the models a dark grey for the coats and black for the pants, cuffs, armour and the weapons. I then used red as a neutral accent color and some blue for the eyes and weapons. In addition to this I painted there gloves and boots brown. And then added a bit of silver to the packs and masks on the models. In all there as 2 Valkyries, 2 Leman Russes ( I am still workin on number 2 ), an Earthshaker Cannon, 18 Heavy weapon platforms, 3 Comussars, 3 command squads, an Hq squad, 10 veterans and 50 troops that were cut from the Gorgon strip troops you buy for the transport. Overall it was alot of work but I am very happy with how they all turned out, but the main thing was that my friend has been very happy with all the work I have done so far. Also there is still 6 more Heavy weapons, a Comussar and a custom built Comussar to be painted yet but thats part 3. Blood Angels Attack Bikes and Baal Predator

Well here is another project that I have been working over the last few weeks. I really enjoy painting the Blood Angels and when they are done right they look amazing. I built the predator with changable weapon sponsons, they are magnetized so that the tank can use both the heavy flamer and the heavy bolter. This was a very easy conversion to do and would love to help out anyone who would like to know how it was done. I also added weathering and battle damage to the tank and the bikes. Since doing this project I have building up my own version of the ball predator without the metal parts, it will all be made from plastic. The models have been painted in the traditional Blood Angels colours and love the yellow helmets on the red armour. Overall I am really happy with how the paint job and minor conversion turned out. The colours I used to highlight the red armour was Blazing and Fiery Orange, I prefer to use these instead of the two colors that Gw uses on all of there Blood Angels models. Happy New Year everyone, have a wonderful 2010. Also a big thank you to everyone who left comments and followers, it has been much appreciated. As for this year, I have some big projects that I will be finishing up soon and many of my own special projects that I have been working on for months. I have spent the better part of a year building my new marine army and am nearing completion , atleast for the building part of it. Also I have built some pretty cool models over the last 5 or 6 months that I have not photographed and posted so look for those in the coming weeks. Im sure you love a few of them. Space Hulk

So I was asked by someone to paint up there Space Hulk models for there son as a christmas gift. The kid these models are for really likes the Black Templars, so his Father asked me if I could paint them up in the Black Templar color scheme, and so I did. Before I could start painting them I had to remove as many of the Blood Angels symbols as I could, some of them I just could not get at with a knife but they are hard to notice on most of the models. As for painting them it was a pretty straight forward approach, standard colors and highlighting. I decided to paint the bases silver to help contrast with there black armour. I also added a few Black Templar symbold and hand painted a few on various parts of there armour. The Broodlord that comes with the Space Hulk is amazing and would be a great addition in a standard 40k Nid army. As for the colours on him he is painted pretty much the same way as seen on the boxset. I have personally picked one up myself so keep your eyes out for my version and take on the Space Hulk Broodlord. Other then that I had alot of fun painting the models and look forward to painting another Space Hulk set but in the Blood Angel colors. Blood Bowl Star Player Hack Enslash

Like I said in the earlier post, I have many project that I finished recently but hadn't posted. I finished this guy up just yesterday. It is Hack Enslash a star player in the game Blood Bowl. I built the model from a Skeleton Warrior, a couple chainswords, some plassticard and of course, Green Stuff. It actually took a lot of effort to get the ragged clothing to look right using Green stuff since I havent really had a practice sculpting it. Overall I think I did a good job with it, I can only get better. The model was farily easy to build other then that part, the leg had to be cut a repositioned, the torso had a spacer added to it, in the torso to get the model to stand up straight instead of leaning over like most GW skeletons. The arms were also cut a repositioned to have him holding the chainsaw in two hands. As for the chainsaw it was made from some plasticard, greenstuff, and 2 Space marine chainsword that were hacked to bits. The model was also painted in a blue and green scheme similar to that of the actual model. As usual the model is made entirely of plastic. More to come.

Imperial Guard Valkyrie 1

It has been a while since I posted anything, not because I don't have anything to show you guys but because I have had alot to do, but no to worry I have a bunch of projects that have piled up over the last 3 weeks since I last posted. So over the coming few days I will be posting up all the stuff that I have just recently finished or working on since I last posted in the late part of November. I have fallen behind. Time to catch up.
First off here is a Valkyrie/Vendetta Gunship/Transport. There are 2 of these that belong to a friends Death Korps army. This one has been converted to have 3 Lascannons, this will allow my buddy to play it as both a valkyrie or vendetta, I do plan to add magnets to the wings with lascannon sponsons in the future. Also the army the ships belong to are painted in a very dark gray, like the Death Korps contingent they belong to. I will posting the second ship like this in a few days. Along with a Leman Russ and a Earthshaker cannon, I just started to work on today.

Eldar Farseer and Warlocks on Jetbikes

Well it took awhile but I have finished the Eldar Command on Jetbikes. There is a Farseer and 5 warlocks, 3 warlocks have witchblades and the other 2 have singing spears along with the farseer. The models were made from using the standard jetbike boxes and the warlock farseer command box and a few extra blisters of warlocks. The models are all infantry models and made of metal. I had to cut each model at the torso and some of the weapon arms had to be cut off almost all of them. I then used the guardian legs that come standard with the jetbike box and attached all the torso that I cut to each one. After that since they all had robes before I cut them in have, I decided to green stuff robes on them. In addition to this I added a green stuffed cape to the farseer. The witchblades and spears are from the dire avengers box. After that it was tme to paint them. I used enchanted blue and Iyanden darksun and then added Ice blue and golden yellow for highlights with a final highlight layer of white to each color. Overall I am very pleased with how they turned out and they sure are alot prettier in person. Feel free to leave your comments or questions, till next time.

Wood Elves Blood Bowl Team

This the Blood Bowl team that was also part of the commission in the post below. As you can see from the pictures and the title they are wood elves from GW and a sprirt of the forest from reaper miniatures. I have to say the spirit of the forest models is a very sick looking model and would look awesome in any WFB wood elf army as an ancient. It is well sculpted and looks the part, big and fierce. I was ask to paint the model in a brown and green color scheme with the big guy being painted to the reference photo I was given. Well here is a pretty big project I have been working on for the last 2 weeks. There is all sorts of models like civil war models and some start trek ships. The project was alot of fun to paint and I really enjoyed using all sorts of different colors and styles on all the models. Of all the models the hardest ones on this project were the start trek ships since they are kinda fragile and hard to really get the details to show up on them. Also I got a lot more practice using decals since I had to cut 50 and apply them to all the shields on the roman soldiers, time consuming to say. Black Templars Commission

Well this is another project I had been working on recently and it is finally complete. I eally enjoy painting the Black Templars theme, it looks really good. I think I might use the same white on black approach for another project that I am workiing on for myself, with a few changes. As for these Templars, this group is to go with the other models I painted a few months ago and they will look great with them. I also went a little further with a couple of the models since they are either going to be used as HQ units or just for show, such as Grimaldus and his retinue. As usual the models will be going to a nice home and find lots of action on the battlefield, next project possibly a weather-beaten Deathwing with lots of damage. Well it has been a while since I last posted and mainly due to being quite busy with a few large commission. Here we have a few Blood Bowl teams that I was asked to paint for a few friends of mine. There was also a few tree man that I painted to go along with another team that he already has. After painting all the teams I have to say that it was alot of fun to play around with all sorts of colors, always helps to get practice with colors you don't use a whole lot like pink. There are a 2 changes that were made after these photos were taken, the orge on the pink team has had 2 spiked shoulder pads attached to it and there was another model added to the skaven team, a skaven assassin holding to blades.I am really happy with how all the teams have turned out. There are many more teams to paint, so keeping checking back for more work, till next time.

Eldar Farseer and Warlocks on Jetbikes - Commission

Well yet another project, this time Eldar. This is an Farseer and 5 Warlocks on Jetbikes Hq squad that I am currently working on for a customer. I found this project to be a little more work then your usual project. I started with the originala metal farseer box and 3 additional warlocks in blisters and 5 jetbikes and the autarch jetbike box aswell. I started with the metal figures by utting them in half at the waist and removing any arms or bits that would not work or fit on the bikers legs. And yes it was quite time consuming and dulled 2 saw blades, lots of sweat. After that I built all the bikes and left the front cover off for priming and to give me some more room to green stuff the rider legs to look more like a robes from the original models. I also had to swap up some of the weapons since the customer wanted 3 with singing spears and 3 with witchblades. Now that I have the models converted and built I will get them primed and start painting them in the aliatoc colors like requested. I had a lot fun and learned a few new things while building this project, next time I build an eldar model it will be a custom farseer. Here are some Genestealers a customer requested me to paint. He wanted each set of genestealers painted bronze and silver and bases on a 2 pence piece. I always enjoy painting metallics and thought after painting both these batches that it would look real cool to have a metallic nid army. In both sets of genestealers there are one with flaming read eyes and one with glowing blue eyes and the other 2 have piercing black eyes. Helps add some variety to each unit. This army was a commission for a friend of mine. He asked me to copy a camo pattern that was on some models he purchased from Ebay. After figuring out what colors were used I started painting. I did all the bases first since that is usually how I paint my models. Again the bases were to match the other army. Overall I think the project came out pretty good. I picked up this army from a friend of mine for really cheap, all I had to do was trade some models. I got a good deal. Unfortunately the Heavy weapons teams were on small bases and there was no large 60mm bases provided. So Instead of buying some I just cut out some 60mm discs from some plasticard, which turned out great. This was another fun project that I have been working on lately. I was asked to copy a style for this army from a picture the customer provided for me. I duplicated the look on the beastman to almost exactly what was shown in the picture. As for the star players I was given a little more free reign but was given a general guideline as to how they should look. And with the mutants or mutations, I was given complete freedom on. I feel the army has a very good overall look and all the models tie in to each other with the chosen color scheme. I based all the models using a light green flock and then flattened it to give the impression of a trapled football field. I then went ahead and painted the field lines on them to tie them all together even more. I think the team turned out amazing and hope that kick butt on the field.

I had alot of fun building both of these models, as I always enjoy using plasticard and green stuff. Practice will only help me get better the more I use it. The librarian terminator was especially fun because I decided to give it a pre heresy style look, stleast i think it looks sort of pre heresy like. I decided to use go with non traditional shoulder pads since all termies have them and I wanted this fella to stand out a bit. Overall I am very happy with how the model turned out.
As for the assault marine I was asked to make a a pre-heresy style jump pack, an I think I did a pretty good job. It is a little big but the technology was different then so I thought it was okay. Also I tried to shape the helmet to have a more bird like look and give it some wings to help achieve that look. Once again I feel I did a good job of getting the overall look I was looking for.

This is a Customer commission request for a Master Belial model. The model is built based off the of the design specifics he wanted, such as the robe and the hood draped over the back of the armour. He also has a sheathed power sword. I found this model a lot of fun to build and paint. I always enjoy painting the bleached bone. As usual all the symbols and scrolling is all hand painted. Blood Angels Vanguards - Commission

This is a Blood Angels Commission from a customer. He wanted 12 Vanguards all together. He wanted 2 additional Vanguards with power fists in addition to the 2 squads of 5. I suppose this is to allow for options with the unit, or he may field them as units of 6. As for painting he requested they be painted in traditional Blood Angels Colors, with the helmets being yellow to represent assault or vanguard squad. I also added in some gold on some of the icons to make them stand out a little more then the normal assault marines. This is a commission I am currently working on. I have not posted in a few days and thought I would post what I am working on. I still have a few bits and details to work out on the model but other then that I should be able to paint him starting tomorrow. He will be painted in traditional Deathwing colors. The customer requested that he be equipped with lightning claws and have a robe on. Also he wanted the model to have a hood but not on the models head but drapped over the back of the armour. I found this one a little difficult but after a few tries I think I got it pretty close. Also he wanted a sheathed power sword as well, so I used the one from Marneus and just filed off the Ultra symbol. Look for this guy painted in about a week.

Imperial Guard - Commission Part 1

These are to be used as a penal legion unit of 10. The customer requested that they all be painted wearing orange jumpsuits like they wear in prison and in addition to this he also wanted prisoner numbers on all the models. It is hard to see them in the picture but they all have different numbers. Also they all have the code PL141 on each of them to represent what penal legion they are from. Also he wanted them based in a brown rumble and grass theme. Overall I am very happy with how these turned out. And I only used foundations, washes and black and silver to paint them. Converted & GS Dark Angels Terminator Captain - sold

On this models I made legs conver and Dark Angels armor plates to add some size to the model. The models ahs been painted in the pre-hersy Black Dark Angels style and all the additional armor plates are painted in Dark Angels green and the trim with bleached bone to tie in with the current colors of the army. The large symbol on the cape is hand painted. This would make a great addition to your Dark Angels army either as belial or as a captain.

I felt like building a cool warboss and thought I would build and paint the one I saw back in March's White Dwarf. It was a pretty cool model and really like the colors. So I pitched the idea t the customer and he gave me the go ahead to do. Well I tried my best to get it identical to what is in the magazine. I think I did a pretty good job. I followed a lot of the instructions that are in the white dwarf in regards to color and went about painting it. The yellow was a little time consuming only because of the black base coat but overall the yellow came out great. There is about 6 or 7 layers of yellow to get the shading right. I personally don't like a lot of brown in my yellow so I started from a more rich yellow. The skin was another fun part as I always love painting Ork Skin. Again there is about 6 or 7 layers of color there. For the most part I stuck to the color layout of the original model and just went about painting the way I paint. It was a very fun model to build and paint. He is to be sold on Ebay shortly.

Blood Angels Commission - FW Dread and Commander

Again another commission that I have been working on recently. The customer requested that the dread be painted up in a Blood Angels Death Company colors. I really like how he choose to use the Chaplain Dreadnought and have it equipped with 2 close combat weapons, has a real menacing feel to it. I painted the dread in pieces because I find it a lot easier to work with and allows me to get everywhere on the model. As for the Commander, again the customer asked for it to be painted in traditional Blood Angels colors. I added in a little gold in a few places to give him a more commanding feel and to so that it stands out. Also I painted most of the seals and Lightning claws in a Green color to contrast with the red armor and help to draw attention to it. I hope that these models fit well with the customers army and help him crush the enemies of the Blood Angels.

Deathwing Standard Commission

I really enjoy painting any Dark Angels Deathwing Terminator. For some reason I just love the look of terminator armor when it is painted bleached bone. I used a the empire standard since it fits so perfectly with the Deathwing Army. The gentleman request that he be equipped with an assault cannon, which I thought was pretty cool. All the writing and icons are hand painted on both the model and the banner. The model is also mounted on a resin Dark Art miniatures base.

Black Templars Commission

This commission was a blast to paint, lots of colors and white on black always looks cool. All of the units are painted in the codex color coordination, the only change have made was to give the brethren black capes instead of bleached bone. I then painted a chapter insignia on each cape to give them a more regal look. In all this commission took me about 6 weeks on and off. I worked on it here and there along with the other things I have posted in the last 2 months. I have used a lot of bits from the Black Templars upgrade sprues and made sure that all the marines in the tactical squads had templar shoulder pads. All the squads have been based in a marsh type theme. I used water effects for the water areas to give a more realistic impression. Overall I feel that the entire army came out very well and hope the customer it is for loves it as much as I do. If you have anyquestions about this commission please leave a comment or email me. Waaagh! Banner Ork Nob for Mark

This is the Waaagh! banner I made for my friend Mark. This was a fun project since I made the flag entirely out of Green Stuff. I then added various ork bits to give it a more ork appearance, since the the GS banner alone was a little dull. I added some heads on a chain to represent trophies of fallen regiments and what not. The model is painted in the same colors as the horde it belongs to. Other then that I cant wait to build another.

Dark Angels WIP

Well I have been building a lot of Dark Angels lately and thought I would go a little further on couple models. The standard bearer fr the deathwing is a commission that I amworking on for a customer. It was his request to have it built in the manner it is with a little input from myself. As for the ATV/ Quad, I really enjoy converting up the bikes and just felt the need to do one for the ravenwing. Ishould have it painted ina few days an then it will surely find a new home through ebay. More to come in the next few days

Plastic Ghazghkull Thraka & Battlewagon w/ Custom Deftrolla

Here is the completed Battlewagon and Thraka models that I did as a commission for a friend of my own. The Ghazghkull Thraka model was built entirely out of plastic card and pieces from the AOBR warboss. I painted him the traditional black that thraka is and added tonnes of battle damage, since he is a warlord and has killed 1000's in battle. There is also elements of Blue and Yellow on him to tie in with the army that he will fighting along side of.
The Battlewagon has a custom scratch built Deftrolla that I built for it since there was not one out at the time when I built this model. Again it was painted to match the theme of the army it is for, Blue, Yellow and Silver. These will make a great addition to the players army and hope he has a blast kicking butt and taking names.

Size Comparision to Space MArine Terminator and AOBR Ork Nob

A friend of my own came to me a while back and said something about how he did not like the current metal Ghazghkull thraka model produced by GW, especially the weight. So he challenged me to build him a new take or version of Ghazghkull made entirely of plastic for his Ork army that I had just finish painting about a few weeks ago. So I went about building him using well you guessed it plastic card or as others know it, sheet styrene. I used all sorts of different sizes of strips, tubing, and cut the larger pieces from a large sheet. BUILD YOUR OWN PAINT STATION - TOOLS & SUPPLIES
PLEASE REMEMBER TO USE THE TOOLS SAFELY!

Build Time Start to Finish - I built this in about 6 hours, but I did it on the fly, you will have instructions and a template to help you along the way. You can do it in afternoon easily.

Tools and Supplies you will need!!!!
- Hot Glue Gun
- Cutting Knife ( Heavy Duty Recommended )
- Pencil or Pen
- White Glue
- Scissors
- Measuring Tape and a straight edge if you have it
- 2 ply Cardboard ( If you can't find this, then use a strong equivalent such as a thick foam core board )
- Colored Bristle Board ( I used Black )
- Copy of White Dwarf which includes the color chart page, cut this out of your magazine.
( I used Issue 27 page 93 )

BUILD YOUR OWN PAINT STATION - TEMPLATE

This is the template that you will need to build the Paint Station, I apologize if it seems a bit crude but I did the best I could with what I had to work with.

In the Template you will find all the measurements and specifications that I used to build the paint station.

Using the template as a guide you will need to cut out and make 2 of the Grid template and 15 to 18 of the Strips template.

The Grid Template is 9 in by 10 1/2 in, I drew the entire grid pattern twice and then cut out the 2 squares and followed the template and cut along the bold line to create to staircase looking pieces or called grid templates. You should have 4 if you did it correctly. The grid is 9 by 10 1/2 inches, the grids is broken up into 1 1/2 inch squares. It should look just like in the template.

The strips template is 1 1/2 in wide and cut to your desired length. I cut the strips to a length of 19 5/8 in long to hold 14 paints per level. There are guidelines in the template for racks that hold 30, 48, 60 or 84 paints. Each one respectively has a certain length to achieve this. Cut your strips to your desired length.

BUILD YOUR OWN PAINT STATION - STAGE 1
PLEASE REMEMBER TO USE THE TOOLS SAFELY!

Tools & Supplies needed
- Cutting Knife, Measuring tape, Pencil, 2 ply Cardboard

Begin by following measurements and outline in the template provided in this tutorial.
- Cut out two of the grid patterned templates
- Each one will provide 2 pieces
- You need 4 total ( On the left )

- Cut out 15-18 1 1/2 in strips to the desired length
- These must be 1 1/2 inches wide ( On the right )

- I used 19 5/8 in long pieces this allowed me to hold 14 paints per level, you should have 6 levels in all if you have followed the template
- The pieces should look like this if you have followed the template correctly.

BUILD YOUR OWN PAINT STATION - STAGE 2
PLEASE REMEMBER TO USE THE TOOLS SAFELY!

Tools & Supplies Needed
- Hot Glue Gun (BE CAREFUL, GETS HOT!), Cut out pieces

Begin by dry fitting some of the pieces before you start to add any glue, you may only be able to do 2 or 3 steps before it will fall over.
- Heat up your Glue Gun, maintain safety when using the gun, it can BURN YOU badly, especially the glue.
- As shown in the picture start by gluing on the bottom step just like in the picture. I glued it to one pillar at a time till i had all 4 pillars glued, I let it dry briefly while keeping it upright. Ask for help if you feel you need it. This helped to give it support while I started gluing on the next steps and so on.
- The strips should be flush with the back of each step.
- You should have used all 4 pillars and 6 of your strips at this point in the project. Let it dry briefly.
- There should be at least 9 strips left over at this point, I cut 18 so I had more then I needed even if I messed up numerous times.

STAGE 2.5
This is not shown in the pic but is very similar to what you just did.
Begin by gluing on the 4 more strips to face of each step EXCEPT for the bottom 2 steps.
- The pieces should be place directly on top of the previous strips and flush with the back of the step.
- Glue one strip on the back of the entire station at the top step to act as a backing for the top step.
- Glue all the inner seams of the Rack
- Glue one at the backside of the rack at the very bottom and another about half way up to give the unit more stability.

BONUS OPTION - KINDA EASY TO DO IF YA WANT TO
- Remember I said not to glue the bottom 2 steps
- To create the cubby's that are in the next photo, you should cut out the middle section of the bottom step
- Cut 2 pieces from one of your remaining strips to match the length on each side of the cubby, these go on the face of the first step on each side of the cubby, if unsure look at the next pic for reference.
- Now cut a piece the width of the section between the middle 2 uprights and 3 1/2 inches tall
- Glue it to the sides in between the two middle uprights and against of the back of the step that it touches, Remember to dry fit it before you glue it in place.
- The other 2 openings can either be covered up or left open, I left them open to slide brushes under and out of the way.

BUILD YOUR OWN PAINT STATION - STAGE 3
PLEASE REMEMBER TO USE THE TOOLS SAFELY!

Tools & Supplies Needed
- White glue, Colored bristle board, Scissors

This step is pretty easy and if you ever did arts and crafts in school then you will have no problem with this part of the project.
- Using whatever colored Bristle board you picked out, cut out strips 1 1/2 inches wide and to the desired length you chose for your paint station.
- Glue them to the front of each step, if you choose to do the bonus option then cut pieces to cover up the front facing cardboard like I did in the pic.
- Using the page your White Dwarf so gladly sacrificed, cut out all the paints from the page to create small labels, apply them to the front of each level in order the page gives or whatever way you like using white glue.
- If you built a smaller version of the rack then you may not be able to put on all of the labels or you can skip this part of the step if you do not want labels on it.
- I also used the Citadel piece from the page and glued it on for a little flair.
- If you want you can add shims to the side of the unit so the paints don't fall off the side or glue your colored bristle board on the resting surface of the paints and anywhere cardboard is exposed. You could even paint it if want to.

The rack that is shown is the one I built, it holds 80 paints and if you did not do the bonus part then it will hold an additional 4 more making it a total of 84. The 3 cubbys allow me to slide paint brushes in and other types of bottles, I used my own for some paints that are duplicates.

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!
Your station is complete and now all you have to do is find a home for it and put your paint on it, you should have something that looks like this if you have followed all the steps correctly and maintained your safety doing so.
The station in the picture holds 80 paints, this allows me to hold the entire GW paint range and a few extras.

PLEASE NOTE - The paint station is not meant for transport and is recommended that it remain in the same spot to prevent breakage and or disaster.

Khorne Juggernaut - For Sale on Ebay

I choose to paint the juggernaut in a neutral grey color, since you always see them painted red. Using blue for a highlight color to draw attention to the fa of the juggernaut and red on the sheild of the rider helps to draw your eye to focal points. On the rear left leg i painted the area around the khorne symbol as if the model was about to change to the traditional khorne red. Also the rider is pinned to allow him to come off when transporting him to games. I painted this model a while ago and felt it was time to go since i have only ever used it once and needed to make room for some new models.

I decided to incorporate a plasma pistol into his giant ower sword and cover him in Dark Angel symbols and some wings for some extra flavor. Here are some reaper miniatures that a customer as me to paint. I have not painted too many reaper miniatures but i have to admit that they are very nice models and are scuplted very well, if you have seen them, check them out. As for painting the models I really enjoyed the challenge and how they turned out. The only requests that I had from the customer was to copy a picture given to me for the half orc in Blue, the minstrel had to have red hair, and the mage had to have blonde hair with a red robe. Overall, they turned out really well and hope that the customer agrees with me. As for the bases the customer requested that they be left plain. Well on to the next one, tll next time.

Well we have Frodo and Bilbo from the Lord of the Rings Range and an old school Metal High elf from WFB. There are to be display pieces more then gaming models and are painted to a great standard, the photos do them no justice, these were best i could get for aome reason, and it s not me or my camera. I know how to use it. I really enjoyed painting the two LOTR models since they are smaller then your normal GW stuff and I find them more challenging to paint especially the faces. The models have not been based as per the customers request and would love to see what they look like when they are finished up. With the Painting part of this project I used more neutral browns and greens for Frodo and Bilbo, with a little splash of colour only for bilbo and the sword for frodo. With the High Elf Hero I went with traditional gold blue and white for most part with a little touch up green for the gems and then red gem and blonde hair to draw you to the face and ake it the focal point. Once again it was fun to pain these and look forward to doing more work for the customer whom owns these.

This was a small commission I did for Kris, the models is painted up using red and white, with a white scars symbol on the boots. She is being used for an abjective piece for his army and will be mounted leaning against a Space Marine Bike. There was alot of skin on this model and some find it tough to make look right, I think I am pretty good at it and enjoy the chance to paint faces or skin any chance I get. Also I have a few ladies in the past but none with such revealing parts. 2009 Golden Demon Finalist - Hector Rex and Retinue

Well I saw this model on Forgeworld a while back and soon after it was released I told myself that I wanted it. With the Sheffield Irregular May Painting Challenge and the Golden Demons in Toronto about 4 weeks from now I ecided to paint this for both challenges. Well Hector Rex only comes with a 3 man retinue and both challenges are for 5 man squads I decided to keep with the Forgeworld and Vraks themes and add a Death Korps Comussar as a Veterans Guardsmen to make the Squad legal for both the game and competitions. So now that I have a legal squad for both challenges I took upon the task and challenge of painting these models. And so I will tell you that story.

When it came to painting the entire squad I wanted to try multiple techniques that I usually use on a one of a kind model or centerpiece on this entire squad. After deciding that I was going to paint them with difficult and time consuming techniques the next task was the colors and theme. What I came up with was all Blue for the cloaks and NMM gold for gold areas with a little splash of red and green thrown in for the seals and scrolls and the armour a very light greyish-white. Also I wanted to paint everything in a light sourced effect and give shades and highlights to every little detail.

The colours I used for the cloaks was Chaos Black, Regal Blue, Ultramarines Blue, Ice Blue and Skull White. I Started with a 50/50 mix of Chaos and Regal to get nice even layer to work with, from there i startedv applying thin layers of Regal Blue until I was happy with the finish. From there I started painting very thin layers of Ultramarines Blue with each one followed by a glaze of Regal Blue. Once I had all the Ultramarines Blue done and was ahppy with the blend to the Darker regal I then started with Ice Blue and did the same thing as before applying thin layers followed by a glaxe of Ultramarines Blue, and from there I went to pure white followed by a few glazes of Ice Blue to blend it all together. I used the layered blending approach and probably put about 40+ hours into all the cloaks, with about 60 layers on Hector's Cape himself.

When it came time to paint the NMM gold on all the models I did themm one by one, I started with Bestial brown and applyed a nice thin even coat and then worked up to Snake bite leather using thin layers. Once i had the overall finish i wanted i started to add small amounts of Bubonic brown to the snakebite on a wet palette. Applying thin layers and adding more bubonic I started to paint the areas that would be reflecting light a showing the true colour of gold. When I reached the point in which i was pure bubonic i started adding in a small amount of hite and painting the highlights in very thin layers till I was almost a pure white. The final touch was justa small spots of pure white on the corners and few other areas. I did the NMM silver in the same fashion but only using Chaos Black, Codex Grey, Fortress Grey and Skull White. Again painting thin layers and using glazes to acheive a smooth blend with the colours. This can sometime be very difficult on some of the smaller more detiled areas, and ths is where you really need to take your time or it could ruin the look of your model.

For the Green on the models I used Dark Angels Green, Kommando Khaki and Skull White. I started with pure DA green and added small amounts of Khaki to gradually and subtly to acheive highights since I wanted to keep the green a little dark. The last stage of highlight I added a very small amount of Skull White to the final mix of Khaki and Green.

The Red I used Mechrite Red, Blood Red, Blazing Orange, Fiery Orange and Skull White.

All the pieces and parts on the models where painted using a wet pallete and I have tried to blend all the colours to give more depth and feel to the moddels. In all it took me about 100+ hours over 3 weeks to paint the entire squad and fortunately for me I finshed it in time for the May S.I. challenge.

I pushed myself and challenged my abilites on this project since I have never tried to paint an entire squad using the NMM technique and blending every little detail on the models. I do not think that I have ever painted an entire squad to this level and this is some of my best work to date. Hector Rex and Retinue WIP

About a day or so after recieving this moel in the mail I could no longer help myself and felt the need to build it. One of the things I find rather irritating about Forgeworld(FW) models is that they almost never go together properly and almost always require some sort of green stuff. Other then that they are very well sculpted and high detailed. Also look over your FW models with a fine tooth comb because there are lots of little pieces left on them after they're cast and will be a pain when you find them painting.

Once I had him built I decided upon a color scheme that I felt would best represent an Inquisitor of his stature, read the end of Siege ofVraks part 2, its great. I decided to go with blue and white with gold trimmings, to give him a more royal and regal look. Now with Gamesday here in Canada on the 20th of June and not having a squad entry built or painted for the Golden Demons and with the May Sheffiled Irregulars Challenge also taking place I thought I would try out techniques that I would not normally use on a squad and enter them in both if time permits me.

I am painting the entire squad without using any metallic paints and using blending and NMM techniques on everything I paint on them along with some light source shading. It has been a long 2 weeks since I got the models. I have around 70 hours into now. I have a bit more done then what is shown in the photos and still have some things to add to the display base that I built for the squad.

Forgeworld Inquisitor Lord Hector Rex and Retinue

I picked this model up off of Ebay about 2 weeks ago and in light of the current Sheffield Irregulars May Painting Challenge ( Paint a Squad), I decided to give this model a go and paint it up for the competition. Also because GamesDay and the Golden Demon are approaching fast hear in Canada (June 20) I will be entering this squad in that comp aswell. I have started painting it over the last few days and have chosen to push my abilities on blending and NMM techniques. The models are all very detailed and forgeworld has once again suprised with the quality of there models. If you are a painter and enjoy challenging models to paint then I recommend this one. This is the Dark ANgels Commission I have been workin on for about almost 3 weeks now, bit by bit, while do other commissions. I really enjoy painting Dark Angels, especially the Ravenwing. The colors are alot of fun to paint and like the way they turned out. I painted all the models in traditional chapter colours and based them with an ash waste style base. These models will be going to a great home and hope they are as much to play with as they were to paint. There is also a Librarian and Veteran Holding a 2-Handed mace that go with this army. Next up Deathwing Apothecary and Master Belial, till next time.

This weeks Ebay models. I really enjoyed building and painting these models, especially the Marneus Calgar I built. After building Marneus I decided that I had to build Lysander and since then I have built a Belial, Shrike, Primarch Roboute Guilliman, and a Custom Salamander on Cold One. Should have thoe done in the next few days after finding the time to finish up the current ravenwing commission I am working on.

Dark Angels Veterans Commission

This a commission job that I have finished recently. The bolters have all been painted black as per customers request. The squad in total took me about 10 hours to complete both building and painting. The customer was really happy with how they turned out.
